Get ready for another exciting Wooden Boat Festival, held along the Tchefuncte River in historic Madisonville on October 13-14, 2018! Festival activities include the Toyota Quick ‘n Dirty Boat Building Contest in which teams get together to construct boats, decorate them and parade them along the Tchefuncte River. You will notice that many of the contestants wear costumes for the parade. In addition, there is a special area for children called Rooster Town with games, arts and crafts, music and more. Old and young alike enjoy Rooster Town. Children also have the opportunity to design and build a boat of their own. This program is sponsored by the St. Tammany Woodworkers’ Guild and is very popular and usually has long lines. Try to get there early. While all the boat building is going on, you can enjoy great music, delicious food and wonderful arts and crafts. Admission is $10 for adults, free for children 12 and under, free for active military members, and $5 for seniors. You can purchase tickets at the gate and for additional information, please contact the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum at 985-845-9200 or see the following link: https://woodenboatfest.org/.
