After deciding to sell your house, the last thing you’ll want to do is to spend a large chunk of money sprucing up the house. On the other hand, though, you need to be sure the house is market ready for resale. Here are some tips to ensure that your house is enticing to home buyers:

  1. Paint the walls - This won’t cost much, but it’s a great way to make your house appear new again. Select neutrals such as pale gray or beige to emphasize the best features of your home as opposed to using bold or bright colors which might not appeal to everyone.
  2. Do a Deep Cleaning - Put in the time it takes to vacuum the floors, remove the dust from the furniture, and wash the windows inside and outside. Ensure that the baseboards are as white as possible and even clean out the cabinets. This deep cleaning is essential before showing your home to potential buyers. The cleaning should take you a few hours, but the task can be made fun with music or friends!
  3. Clean Up the Bathroom - To make a good impression, the bathroom needs to be in tip-top shape. If you have any serious problems, hire a professional to fix issues such as dents in your bathtub, reglazing outdated tiles, or replacing old faucets. After those items are completed, consider new shower curtains and new bath mats to finish brightening up the area.
  4. Declutter - People don’t realize how much clutter they accumulate, but it can be quite a lot. Get rid of wilting plants, work papers, and bric-a-brac. Hide personal items such as hair dryers, razors, toothbrushes, etc. before showing the house. Stowing these items will have the additional effect of making small spaces appear larger.
