Come join Relay for Life Northshore to be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Lakeview Regional Hospital in Covington from 11 AM till 9 PM. Relay for Life is the major fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and includes cancer patients, cancer survivors, caregivers and family members affected by cancer. The relays last between 6 and 24 hours during which teams are assigned a track or path to walk or run. At least 1 team member must be walking/running on the track at all times to symbolize the dedication to the constant fight against cancer. The teams also get a themed campsite where they sell food, games and activities. The money collected goes towards the team’s fundraising goal. The American Cancer Society, whose mission is to lead the fight for a world without cancer, was founded in 1913 when a diagnosis of cancer usually meant a death sentence. Gradually, much progress has been made in early diagnoses and treatment of various forms of cancer, thanks to the research led by the American Cancer Society.
